I posted this in the vmware forum, but get no response.
----------------------------------------------------------
I am sorry if this has already been answered, I have tried googeling and have already given up several times previously.
System:
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server running VMware server 1
3Nics: Wan, 100MB Lan, 1GB Lan
100MB Lan serves a WLAN router
1GB Lan goes directly to my workstation
The 3NIC setup is not so important right now, I just need to figure out the basic 2 NIC setup and take it from there.
Goal:
Run Astaro Security gateway as a virtual appliance to act as proxy/fw/dhcp and different stuff, I have ran Astaro on a seperate Machine earlier and know the basics there.
The main problem I am having is setting up networking with VMware server
My Current working config (Iptables dhcp etc on the Ubuntu system)
Wan: DHCP
100MB LAN : Static 192.168.0.1
1GB LAN : Static 192.168.1.1
How should i config with vmware-config.pl ?
And then the corresponding /etc/networking/interfaces in ubuntu ?
I also have services running on Ubuntu so how do I go about setting up VMware and still have access to ftp/rtorrent/ssh etc ?
Any help greatly appreciated, fumbling in the dark atm.

I managed to log in a few times, but had to connect my workstation directly to my eth0 wich is supposed to be my dhcp WAN card.
Set static ip on my workstation and logged into eth0 @ hxxps://192.168.0.1:4444.
I am not really sure if i mess up VMware networking, Astaro NIC configuration og both [:)]
Any pointers or pre-existing guides greatly appreciated.
