hardware for astaro 7 upgrade

FYI,
Onboard soft-raids aren't supported by Astaro, fwiw; you can only use 1 drive in such systems unless you add a real raid card.

Server boards with real onboard hardware raid are often supported.

the ASUS P5Q WS mainboard sounds pretty nice --- is there a version with onboard graphics - dont want to buy an additional graphics card... 

for 100 user licenses and 10 mbit up down is a dual core good enough or already overkill?

Hi,
cpu isn't usually the problem, more often it is memory. Most of the self built units go for a low power system.
A dual cpu will not be an overkill, but get at least 4gb of ram and about 80-100 gb of disk.
RAM is really dependent on your number of applications eg IPS, proxies, filters, VPNs, etc.
Intel Dual NIC will work fine.

I will be trying my atom 330 based box again when the v7.500 ISO is released.

My current system with many applications enabled, 2 vlans and about 10 devices runs between worst case 6% and 0.3%, memory about about 800mb (39% of 1.9gb)

i decided on this setup, what do you think?

I would set it up as a RAID1 System - one final question does the motherboard support a redundant power supply and which one would you recommend?

Since there is no onboard graphics what graphics card has no compatibility issues with astaro - dont want to setup the whole system just to find out i wont be able to see anything since the graphics card i bought has some issue with astaro [:D]

What mainboard are you using for the atom I cant find any that support 4GB of RAM.

It's possible that the Atom architecture doesn't support more than 4GB; I'm not sure.
Logic Supply has a large variety of Atom boards, fwiw.
