Configure VM ESX

Hi there,

I am sure I am missing a simple step, but I am trying to configure our ESXi 3 server to run Astaro and I can not get internet access from our workstations.

I have created 2 virtual switches, one for the external NIC and one for the internal NIC. The internal NIC is connected too our switch, and the external NIC is connected to our ISP router.

In Astaro I tried setting it up both as a router and a bridge, when configured as a router, I can ping google.ca and I can ping internal servers but unable to ping the gateway. When I set Astaro up as a bridged mode, I can not ping anything, no internal servers, no outside addresses or the gateway.

Can anyone help?

Are pings allowed on the 'ICMP' tab of 'Network Security >> Packet Filter'?

Hi,

Yes, currently everything is allowed through under the 'ICMP' tab.

FYI - As well on a side note I just noticed, right now I have Astaro internal connected to our switches and the external port disconnected so users can still access the internet. Our ISP router is connected directly to the same switch Astaro is connected to and I can ping google.ca, our internal servers and our gateway.

Basically modify vswitch security to allow promiscuous and forged (proxy arp) frames.
