As long as you're not seeing high CPU usage, probably not an issue.

In my opinion it's a known problem, which renders all current asg appliances with less than 3gb ram unusable. we had to send back our asg220 (1gb ram not upgradeable) and instead use a dedicated server now with ~4gigs of ram to stop the firewall from becoming unresponsive due to performance probs. but i don't know which devices to use now at the branch office's site due to astaro's product politics nowerdays. I mean an asg525 is probably way too expensive for a branch with 15 employees. We'll probably have to go with dedicated servers also. Don't get me wrong, the product is good, but the hardware limits it's usability and that's why I think astaro needs to seriously overthink the whole hardware concept (increase ram in all asg's one more time to a reasonable amount!)

Well, that was kind of what I was talking about.  You had high CPU and swap usage with your older unit, so you replaced it with one with more RAM.

For every client, we check to see if there's a better value using the software or hardware appliance.  Usually, people spend less money with a hardware device, but we have both kinds of customers.
