I just purchased four Sonos music players and each one will have it's own IP address. My problem is that this will put me over the 10-user limit with my home license. I know this topic comes up from time-to-time on the forum; I wish there was a solution. I'd even pay for more home licenses, but I don't need to buy the Astaro hardware. I know beta testers are given more licenses and I have been using the beta version and posted a couple things, but I haven't had that many problems with the beta so I'm not sure I'll be granted the 50-user license. That would solve my problem.
I had hoped that I could put the sonos players on their own subnet and use a wifi router to issue IPs to the sonos players, thus not using up IPs on astaro. But I was told that the sonos players have to be on the same subnet as the computers with the music.
I also run into a similar license limit problem when people come over with wifi enabled devices, like smart phones, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP etc. I solved this by setting up a wifi router on a DMZ subnet and I issue the IPs from the router instead of astaro. It works, but I'd much rather have astaro handle all the DHCP activity.
It's amazing how much stuff in my home wants an IP, and it's growing all the time.
