Home Use license and VMWare ESXi

Is a home use license valid for the AMG virtual appliance?  I have VMWare ESXi 4 running on a Mac Pro and was looking at Astaro for a mail server at home.  I have generated my home use license but when try an load the license I download it reports that it is invalid.

    As stated above, it's all the same software.  The only special licenses are those for ASG appliances.

    I am going to be installing the home version on my VMWare ESXi server at home. 
    I tried it once and choose the base as "Generic Linux 64 bit" but didn't have the best of luck. For example the begining wizard would never complete correctly and other oddities in the system.

    What would be the recommended choice when installing it on my VMWare server?

    (VMWare server = HP DL360 quad core, 16GB RAM, 500GB local and a Free NAS for more space)

    Yes, it's for ACC, but they are the same OS underneath.  Only change you may want to make from my recommendations is to use VMXNET3 NICs instead of E1000 (latest versions of ASG/UTM software support these).

    Hi,

    Download the ESXi Appliance, that way you have the VMWARE Tools installed, go to here ..

    ftp://ftp.astaro.de/pub/ASG/v8/virtual_appliance/

    THIS RUNS Fine we use it with HOME Licence

    Since v8 the software install will detect that's it's in a virtual environment and automatically load vmware tools for you. The prebuilt ESX(i) images are great for testing but are built to fit as wide a range of ESX(i) editions as possible so are not optimized for ESX(i)v4/5.

    What error messages specifically did you get and at what phase of the install? I've installed v8 on ESX(i)v4 several times on similar spec'd hardware with no problems.
