Webadmin not starting after reboot

I shutdown and rebooted the system from the Webadmin manager as I have been having a situation where after a few days the system starts slowing down. 

After rebooting I could not access Webadmin form the network. 
The console message is

"Webadmin Loading"            "Failed"

I can still use SSL and all other system functions seem to be working. Internet etc.

What is the quickest way to rectify the error - reload from backup? If so any pointers appreciated.

    Ok so I did a restore from the 2 latest backups via USB key and I still get the Webadmin failed message when booting.

    I wrongly thought that remote SSL access was working but it isn't.

    Is my only option to re-install and hope that the backups are ok.

    That's a new one here.  Can you access via the external interface?  If so, then perhaps you've changed to webadmin port from 4444 to something like 8080, and you've got a conflict of some sort.  How about a backup from several weeks ago?

    If not, then it sounds like a problem that might be fixed by a reload; if that doesn't fix things, it might be a hardware issue.

    But if it was a hardware issue why would the system still be functioning as a firewall. Is there a way I can change/check  the settings from the console on the system itself, I have been to the site to load the backups when the problem started so I know that part works.That would be the most helpful. If I reload and the backups have the same problem then I have blown away the complete system and will need to start from scratch. not good.
    Is there a way to see the iptables script that is contained in the system or on the backups at least I will have something to build on.

    The Astaro backup is only a configuration backup, so you could restore one from a month ago, then restore one from today and it would be as if you never had restored the one from a month ago.  When you reload from scratch, you lose logfiles and reports, also the email quarantine; everything else is included in the restore.  I can't recall having heard of more than a single bad backup, and rarely even one.

    Does the information under 'Support >> Advanced' give you information you can use?

    You didn't say whether you could access via the External interface.

    A backup restore resets ssh, so it probably was working and not anymore. You can try a couple of things, run iptables -L -n from console and look for Chain AUTO_INPUT
    It will have webadmin ports listed in the first few lines. But from your message, it looks like webadmin is failing, you can try /etc/init.d/httpd restart and see if you get any abnormal messages. Maybe hard disk is going bad and is making data corrupt or maybe a power fluctuation caused this[:S]
    Are you getting any failed messages during bootup? In any case, try the above suggestions including what bob asked and see what happens.

    In the end had to bite the bullet and re-install. So I am none the wiser as to what was the cause of the problem. I wish I had known about re-installing as a basic install and then updating from the online updates and then applying the latest backup.
