Updating with new NUT for UPS

I'm running a custom-built ASG v7.404. I noticed that the version of NUT installed is 2.0.5 and the latest stable release is 2.4. Has anyone attempted to update the NUT software manually to a newer version. I'd like to get support for my UPS.

    Astaro only officially supports USB APC models.

    You could try to upgrade the software, but Astaro will likely overwrite it during up2dates.
    It could also cause up2date to fail.

    I know that Astaro only officially supports APC/USB. I understand there could be some issues. I want to know if anyone has tried it with any luck and what problems they have run into.

    I'm a home user and while I know I could have gotten a cheap powerstrip style APC UPS I have already spent a little extra on a small rackmount setup for my home network. I didn't want to break the bank to get a rackmount APC/USB unit. I opted for a Tripp-Lite rackmount unit.

    While I understand Astaro only officially supporting APC/USB that doesn't mean that have to continue using such an outdated version of NUT. A newer version of NUT would allow other brands to work, Astaro could still maintain support for only APC/USB.
