Bootable USB Thumb drive creation

Greetings,

Seen some posts about people trying, but no one succeeding in getting a thumb drive to boot and load the updated iso's similar to the way the astaro thumb drive works.  Is it simply impossibly for us to create our own?

    The trick is the hardware header.  Normal USB drives are external hard drives, the Astaro Smart Installer is seen as an external CD-ROM drive- this is a hardware-level difference, you can't simply change the file system format to get this to work.

    For Astaro appliances, I think the ASI is your best bet- but for Astaro software on your own hardware you can use unetbootin and a normal thumbdrive to make a bootable USB device.

    Hi Jack,

    Is there a list of instructions or paramaters for unetbootin to work with Astaro ISOs? It doesn't seem to be able to blindy load random ISOs.
