USB network adapter support?

No USB or PCMCIA support, and I don't believe they plan any, either... doesn't make sense for an enterprise-capable product like this to do so.

It's unfortunate.  Although in this instance it is for personal use, many smaller business also have old laptops lying around that have plenty of life left in them for basic server operations (not that the ASG is basic, but the hardware requirements for a small business are low enough).  Sure, a larger enterprise could (and should) justify the cost of an additional new server, but the smaller guys out there need to make the best use of their existing resources.  And let's not forget the environment... Recycling/refubishing a laptop that is already a lower-powered PC is good for us all [:)]

With USB and PCMCIA support mature in Linux, it surely wouldn't be too hard a feat to accomplish.

By the way, in case anyone else is interested, a work-around is to use the VM machine.  However, that is not appropriate for me in this case.

if you have the right switch, you could also try vlans using the single nic of the laptop you are playing with...

For example, for about $400 on eBay, you can get an HP DL 360 G3 with dual Xeons, 2GB, mirrored 36GB hot-swap drives and redundant, hot-swap fans and power supplies. There's no reason to use an old laptop for this application; sell it and get a better tool.
