Hey, my dlink dgl-4300 is dead. When powered on it just sits there and restarts over and over. So I need a new router. Right now i am modem to 15" macbook pro led screen. I have used Astaro before and like it for the most part.
What i need to be able to do is go to Fry's Home Electronics | Computer Parts & Accessories, Software, Games, TVs, Cameras - Frys.com FRYS.com | Product Navigation and pick parts to build a pc for Astaro. I can't do mail order as we need a device today if possible. So i was wondering and sincerely and humbly hoping someone could please do me a big favor and pick the cheapest stuff from Fry's Home Electronics | Computer Parts & Accessories, Software, Games, TVs, Cameras - Frys.com that would work with astaro. My guess is i need a case, mobo, ram, cpu, hdd, nic, psu etc. This is going on a network with 2 computers, ps3, xbox 360/live. I need 802.11n if possible or could i later buy a .n ap and connect it? I will need wireless though.
I'd be willing to paypal someone a few bucks after i got paid on the 1st of the month for the favor if they could pick parts and it was say $350 or less and i picked them up. things for me are hard to understand sometimes and i don't have much patience for this, looking for parts i mean. I'm wanting the cheapest workable stuff using preferably a shuttle case or mini atx since they are cool looking and small.
So here's a list of what I'm after.

xbox 360 xbox live
wireless or able with access point later.
2 10/100/1000 nic. one nic comes on mobo im sure and i have a dlink nic that works, so i may not need to buy. but i will if needed.
shuttle case or something like that small preferably, but not absolute necessary if i can't do it.

cheapest cpu
2gb ram cheap
mobo has onboard video im sure.
I will do some torrenting, but not much and only sometimes.
I stream audio and videop to ps3 and xbox 360 from an external hdd connected to a pc we have.
i would like upnp as well.
i like in astaro the security so i would use the virus, intrusion as well as the content filtering to block **** etc.
i'd like to log the amount of bandwidth we use up and down on wan so i know what we use for isp use etc like on a day, week, month basis and i think astaro does it. snmp can be used im sure.
i would like a dmz if possible if i need it for my gaming, but upnp can maybe work and so can forwarding the ps3 and xbox live ports if needed and wii too.
my connection is 16/2 right now.
Or is it possible to go buy a local router and use something like the security in astaro on a pc that is running windows xp sp3 and is on full time?
Well I've decided to look for a router and then add Astaro later, because a pc cost too much. So hopefully to get security Astaro could dwork on the windoews pc here in vm or something.
Does anyone know of a good router from Frys and local outlets? Hmm.
