Memory upgrade ASG 220

Hi,

I'm gonna do a memory upgrade on my ASG220 to get it to 1Gb of memory instead on 512Mb.

I searched in the kownledge base to find some technical documents helping to find how to upgrade that memory but I haven't find a single one!

Ok I know how to replace memory modules that's not the question. The question is : My Asg220 is actually rack mounted so do I have to un-mount it to upgrade the memory? Or is there another way out?

Is there any technical documents treating this subject?

Else I guess i'm just gonna un-mount it from my rack and open the case and look where's the memory!

    You're supposed to get memory from your Astaro reseller, unless you've repurposed it for home use.

    Like Barry says, if you don't spend the extra $25 to get the memory certified by Astaro, your added memory probably won't work unless you're running the free home-user license.  In any case, adding non-Astaro memory will void your warranty and support if you have it.

    Well, it will be certified memory (I told it to the person i'm buying it, he will buy it from astaro himself)

    Contact your reseller; give them the serial number off of the unit; they can use this to determine if your unit can be upgraded.  Older 220 units are limited (due to the MB chipset used) to 512MB, if yours is one of these older units, the only upgrade path is to a newer Revision 2 or 3 ASG220.  If it is a Revision 2 unit, then there is a low cost memory upgrade kit available... your reseller should be able to handle this.

    If you buy memory upgrade from astaro, there is a nice explanation with it, how to put the memory ito the box.

    Well actually it was bought really recently so I don't think i'm gonna have any problem, plus my reseller told me he already checked that. Don't worry, I trust him he all checked that for me.

    And thanks for the answers. (So now I know there is the guide to install with the memory),

    I don't know for the other boxes (using a 320) but my guess is it'll be very similar to this:

    - unmount/unplug the box
    - open the case (screws at the sides, lift the top of the case)
    - find the RAM banks and replace as you would with any other PC.
    - put everything back together, plug in cables and turn it on.

    That's how I did it, that's what the guide in my upgrde package said.
