500MHz is pretty slow for Astaro.

Look at my sig; the Atom system is probably about the same size, and about the same price. Cheaper if you don't care about fanless and gigE.

The site you linked was in Germany; I'm in the US, so not sure how much this helps, but Logic Supply has the components I'm using.
I bought the motherboard and case as separate components and assembled and added RAM and a hard drive myself.

Cool... make sure you use the 7.402 ISO for installation; the older ISOs won't see the NICs.

Thanks to help of Barry i built up a system baesd on exactly the same hardware.
Ordered everything in Germany at Techcase. They are spezialised on Mini-ITX systems.

I ve a working Astaro.
First try will be move the disk in the new system after a backup.
All parts are on the road and I m waiting for the DHL-Car.

So the latest release supports realtek nic cards on the Intel Atom boards now? I just downloaded ASG like two days ago, so far I like it. I tried Smoothwall Express and Untangle, and a couple others, and ASG seems like its the most solid and feature rich firewall I've tried yet [:)]

Yes, the Realtek gigE nic driver was updated awhile back in the 7.4 series.

The Atom board I have has 2 recent Intel gigE nics, which are supported as of 7.402.

If you have a choice, I'd recommend the Intel NICs as they tend to be 100% stable, whereas Realteks sometimes have stability problems with different switches, etc., and are not quite as fast.

Yeah, right now I'm using a dual NIC P4 Northwood 2.4GHZ system, so I'm researching different, lower power consumption options. I'm going to try the 7.5 beta :-D out

the runnig system is installed on a 2.5" disk.
Sad but true the board is here but the case will arrive next week )-:
Some tests with a standard ATX-Power-suppluy failed because the system stops seconds after the start.
I think it's a problem of "jumpers and missing switches" but I ve no time for "hardware-hacks" in the moment.

System is up since 2 hours.
No problems while installing Astaro and restore the latest backup.
