What hardware has not worked for you?

Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721
Intel Corporation PRO/1000 GT
Intel 82546GB PRO/1000

The Intel Corporation PRO/1000 GT should have worked; did you submit a support request about that?

The Intel 82546GB PRO/1000 R3 is not certified, but the R1 is; also worth a support request if it's R1.

The Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 is not listed as certified.

I wonder if there isn't some other problem.  Have you already posted your hardware configuration?  How about a link to that?

I wasted too much time on this, and thought it would be easier just to find out what you guys are using, and buy, be done with it.

We bought the GT because HCL says it works, but it doesn't. Apparently manufacturers change the chipset without changing the model. 

On the server, lspci -v shows

06:04.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Intel Corporation PRO/1000 GT Quad Port Server Adapter
...

So even though it is still GT, the chipset is 82546GB (rev 03), which is not supported.

Yeah, that's part of what makes me wonder if there isn't something else going on.  That's why I'd hoped you had submitted a support request to Astaro.  I'm still curious about the rest of your configuration.

Support request has been submitted long time ago. Here is one discussion:

Astaro support logged into the system and said the HA NIC is the root cause. Due to missing heartbeat packets, the slave thinks master is dead and takes over. Then it receives the heartbeat, and goes back to slave mode.

Astaro support suggested changing NIC but my luck so far is zero. Even if you buy the exact same model number as listed in HCL, it could be a different chipset or rev #. This can't be known until after you put the card in the system and run "lspci -v". 

Can anyone share what Quad Gigabit card you use that works, and where you bought it?

It seems it did work immediately as you suggested in that thread, but it gradually starts failing when the log file grows bigger, and the nightly postgres report processing takes more cpu. Apparently the NIC starts losing packets when the cpu low goes 50%+.

Yeah, it does sound like something we're not asking about, doesn't it?
