Locked out after Up2Date

I updated my ASL last night using the automatically downloaded update image. I now cannot log in and my password is not recognized.

Can someone please explain?

There is only one administrator of this system, myself.

there is a way to reset the admin password via ssh to the box. Have you tried logging in using putty to the box?
