I am new to Astaro and am experiencing difficulties connecting to the internet after installation. Here is a summary of my setup:
The Astaro is behind a Thomson TG585 which uses DHCP and uses PPPoA as its connection type for an ADSL connection.
The Thomson’s IP address is 10.0.0.138 and has DHCP pool of 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.254
It recognizes that there is a device (the Astaro) connected on 10.0.0.2
The Astaro shows the following interfaces:
eth0 internal 192.168.2.100/24
eth1 external WAN 10.0.0.2/24
The eth1 interface is setup as a cable modem (DHCP) in Astaro. A forum member suggested this setting in response to an earlier post. This setting (hopefully) will allow the Thomson to assign an IP to the Astaro.
During the setup wizard, I set up an internal DHCP server on the Astaro:
Range: 192.168.2.1 through 192.168.2.254
DNS1: 192.168.2.100
DNS2: 0.0.0.0
Also NAT Internal Network --> External WAN masquerading rule is in place on the Astaro.
When I examine the network using the administration computer, it shows that there is a gateway (the Astaro) but no connection to the Internet.
The status lights on the Astaro’s two NIC cards might be a clue as to what is going wrong and are as follows:
Astaro Administration Computer
Green status light on Astaro, Green on Admin
Thomson Astaro
Red status light on Astaro, Green on Thomson
If anyone could help me troubleshoot this, that would be great.
PS:
I am not sure how important the following is, but it might offer a clue to a solution.
Under Network-->Interfaces-->Hardware, eth0 is listed as MII capable and eth1 is listed as not MII capable
