trying to install ASG

I'm trying to install ASG on a P4, 2.4Ghz, with 512 RAM, 250 GB HDD, and the installer is failing. any ideas?

I did burn the ISO to a DVD because I didn't have a CD-blank handy... could that have caused the problem?

    Hi,
    I think you should burn the content to a normal CD first.
    Maybe choose at installation the option classic no apic. This solved my problem on a HP Workstation xw6000.

    still no luck...

    I re-downloaded, burned to a CD-R, and still no luck.

    hardware:
    Gigabyte GA-8IHXP motherboard
    (includes realtek integrated LAN)
    2x 128MB PC1066 Rambus memory
    250 GB Seagate HDD
    3 PCI NIC's:
    Netgear FA311
    Netgear GA310
    3Com 509B

    tried classic and nosmp modes... classsic hangs at the same place, I think I saw something about partitioning the hdd come up for a split second before the failure message.

    I am not expert as others but please check this 
    1)did you check md5sum of iso which you have download 
    2)Are you using RDRAM (850 chipset (?) come much before 845 and 850 was intel wrong calculation )
    3)harddisk is ide or sata?
    4)what is your cdwriter (ide or sata?)
    5)Are you trying with RAID 
    6)GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification - GA-8IHXP (Rev 2.1) please confrom which verion of hardware your using

    Didn't check the MD5.
    am using 850 chipset and Rambus/RDRAM
    HDD is Parallel ATA
    not sure about the CD-writer... used my MacBook Pro
    HW is definately ver 3.0

    While on the subject, would an Asus A7V with a Thunderbird 800 possibly work better?

    It would probably be a royal PITA to migrate my file server onto the 2.4 Ghz machine, but that would free up the A7V for me to play with ASG...

    I just saw the ASGv7 Quickstart guide, and it said the minimum requirements are PIII 800 and 512 MB RAM. I'm thinking maybe that's the problem.

    I think I'll get an Atom-based board, and build that into an ASG when my next paycheck comes in.

    A Thunderbird 800 is superior to a PIII.

    Did you try ALT-F2 / ALT-F3?

    Be careful with the Atom boards, many of them have unsupported NICs.
    (This _may_ change in Astaro 7.402 with regards to the new Intel gigE NICs.)
