Hi friends !



My setup is intel D945GCLF Board and 80 gb SATA hdd and SONY 20 X DVD Writer SATA and IDE cd-writer both fail to installed astaro 7.4 ,while booting from  sata  cd-writer it hang at kernel loading and with ide  cd-writer it hang while verifying  package  checksum and it hang there


Can i boot from regular usb  pen drive ,if so how do i do it  (how to create bootable pen drive from astaro img on linux and windows ?)


what could be a problem,

    Hi,
    I would advise the issue is not your hardware, but your CD. Try downloading a new copy and burning it on one of the drives you are planning to use for your ASG installation.

    Yes Sir ,i did that ,i check md5sum of ISO also ,i have two copy of 7.4 same peroblem with both cds ,do you think CD ROM may be faulty ,is SATA DVD writer is supported for installation

    I must admit I only use cds, not dvds for my ASG ISOs. I can't even tell you which cd reader/burner I use because I remove it from the ASG after completing an installation. Reducing the heat generated even further.

    SATA drives are supported during installation. My system has a sata hd and ide cd, because I had them and the CD reader doesn't need any special functions.

    Thanks ,I will check with some other make cd rom/writer and try it again ,i have another astaro 7.4 running on other machine but it has only 512 mb (share 8 mb by display) ram and i am not able to update/upgrade firmware and pattens so i am installing on this new machine (i use cd writer from that machine )

    I am not 100% sure, but you can give it a try to force the SATA mode to IDE (no AHCI and no RAID) and install it with these settings, as i am not sure if the installation kernel supports SATA CD-ROM or AHCI mode.

    Hi umt_kid,
    did it finally work with the Intel D945GCLF ??
    Did you get it up and running ?
    I am interested because i am searching for a Mini-ITX board to build a quiet small factor Astaro for home use.
