Up2date troubles

Ok. I had to reinstall my Astaro (got a better machine to run it in). After the re-install, it shows on the dashboard "1 Update(s) available for download". But if I got into the Up2Date section under the Management tab, it says that my firware is up to date. I am kinda confused as to what is going on. I know there is a newer firmware as I am running 7.400 & the newest update is 7.401. So I know that something is fishy. Also on my wan interface the link shows as down, yet here I am talking to you from behind it. So, color me kinda confused. Any ideas or help? I can post whatever you need to be able to help me out, just ask. Thanks in advance all!

    That means it hasn't finished downloading yet. Give it some time, and it should show up on the up2date page.

    Ok. It just finished downloading the update. Sorry about that. I sometimes get a little impatient. So, any ideas on why the link shows as down on the WAN interface? 

    I am really sorry for all the n00b-ish questions. IThis is the first hardware firewall I have run. I used to use Linux a lot, but this is by far the most useful copy I have ever used. Thanks for all the help!

    What kind of NIC and connection (Ethernet, PPPoE, ...) is it?

    The NIC is a ADMtek NC100 Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 & my connection is a DHCP Cable modem.

    Any ideas or thoughts on what could be causing this? I am baffled as to why the link on the WAN card shows as down when I can access the internet. What does it mean by link exactly?

    I used one of these adapters in my setup also a while back. Its a linksys cheap NIC card LNE100?? and is recognized by astaro as ADMtek NC100 Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100. If I remember correctly, even vista had problems with it.
    On astaro, it will show as state up, link down. Everything seems to work fine other than the annoying red lettering showing link down. 
    I didn't want to try it extensively since I do a lot of work from home and didn't want to get into connectivity problems, but for a little while that I used it, it seemed to work fine other than the status problem in astaro. I believe its a driver issue. I was using it on my LAN side so there was no link waiting to come up and it just kept showing link down while all the traffic flowed through it.

    Their NICs were always cheap products; When I worked in a shop in the mid 90's, from one minor revision to the next, the chips could be _completely_ different, needing a different driver, and it was always very hard to tell which revision you had; they had a page on their website showing pics, so you had to take the NIC out and compare it. [:P]

    Ok. Well, I was thinking it had something to do with that. I swapped the card to my lan side & got the same thing (link is down). I guess my only option is to get another RealTec 8139 to use. Oh well, thanks for the information.
