Installation on 8GB Compact Flash

I'd like to install to an 8GB compact flash.
I'll be turning off much of the logging and
limiting disk writes using sysctl.conf

I don't have a HD available that will connect
to the system I want to install on.
Any way I can swing this without breaking out partimage?

  • I don't know if it will work, but I think you have to get a 16GB unit as Astaro V7 refuses to  install on anything smaller than 10GB.

  • I'm just wondering can I force the installer to continue/manually setup the
partitions (mounting /var/log/ as a shmfs/tmpfs ramdrive is kinda
tempting, I don't need persistant logs)
  • No, but you could install to a larger disk, and then try to use Ghost or similar to move it to the smaller drive.
However, you need to make sure you have enough space for up2dates, etc.
