Another newbie question.. How do I log into VM ?

Hi guys,

I have spent hours on this...yes another newbie...

So, I have instaled 7.305 VM version in VM player on XP SP3.

Starts OK and I get the Astaro Gateway screen with:

192.168.150.5
login:

I dont seem to understand how to login at this location and I cannot access any of the "Webapp" IP addresses listed (inc using HTTPS and Port 4444)

PS. Here is a copy of my IPCONFIG /ALL

    The VMWare virtual adapter which is configured for the ASG interface needs an IP address in the same subnet as the ASG (or the ASG's IP needs to be changed via shell to be in the range of the corresponding VMware interface- then made to match in webadmin)

    To login from the shell in the VM console, enter the username root, you will be prompted to create a root password and then you will be at a root prompt.

    I am having a similar problem. I have a windows VM on the same host to an IP of 192.168.150.4 but was not able to connect. Then I changed the IP address on the Astero device using ifconfig to IP on my normal subnet but still no luck. Any ideas?

    OK. I got it working now. I changed the IP of the ASG to the same range as the VM device and then change the IP of the windows machine to the same range as well.

    Thanks guys, but keeping in mind that I am a newbie, how do I change the IP address in the shell ??

    I typed help, but could not make sense or ID any commands ?

    A example command line to change the IP address would be great !!

    I have changed my IP address on "VMnet8" to match 192.168.150.5 range, but still cannot ping or connect to https://192.168.150.5:4444.

    Am I any closer to getting this F[:(][:S][:@] thing running ??

    Update # 2 - GOT IT !

    At around 2am I tried changing the VM adaptors to "host only" mode via the VM ware player "devices" menu located at the top of the VM window and managed to log in to the web menu. WOO HOO ![:D] (Very exciting for a frustrated new user)

    Hope this helps other newbies [H]

    Next step is learning how to route my PC traffic via the internal VM adaptors.

    I suspect that I will have to change the devices back to NAT and/or do some bridge work ?

    Any pointers on how to route my web traffic via the VM will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, How have you managed to change the IP?

    I have just deployed AGW to my ESX. By Default Astaro has the same IP as my Router: 192.168.0.1

    I would like to change this IP to something like x.201

    Could you advise on how this can be done through command line?

    In addition, if you would like to do this via the Astaro Confd Client type the following

    1) cc
    2) RAW
    3) lock_override
    4) OBJS
    5) itfparams
    6) primary
    7) REF_****** (should just have the one interface so far so there should be only one listed here by REF number)
    8) address=192.168.0.1 (for example)
    9) change other parameters if you need to (visible by hitting tab)
    10) w + enter to write the changes
    11) quit to exit

    Now join WebAdmin by navigating to https://192.168.0.1:4444 or the IP you set, from the same or visible subnet
