Hi .. Yes, a n00b. And a home user at that.
I've installed VMware and the ASG virtual machine over windows XP. The Astaro product (web gateway 7.201) all installs just fine, and I get the five beeps, followed by the IP address
192.168.0.1
and then the login prompt.
Trouble is, I can't get to the web interface.
The PC has two NICs, both hooked up by ethernet cable to my router, which also supports half a dozen connections over 802.11xx.
Originally, the router address was 192.168.0.1, so I changed that to 192.168.0.254 to avoid any potential conflicts.
I then re-installed the ASG virtual machine, and it still came up with 192.168.0.1 above the login prompt.
So far so good.
Initially I saw documentation which told me the ASG interface would be found on 192.168.150.5:4444, so I set up one of the NIC on VMware8 to an address on the same subnet, and looked for the web interface (in firefox, on https://192.168.150.5:4444). No joy.
So I re configured one of the NICs in windows to another address on the 192.168.150.x subnet and tried again. Again, nothing. And the pings to 192.168.150.5 timed out as well.
Then I saw different documentation which told me that ASG works on 192.168.2.x and repeated the procedure, this time looking for the web interface at https://192.168.2.100:4444.
Exactly the same result: no web interface and pings timing out.
Then I thought I'd disable the WIndows firewall, just for fun and repeated the whole thing. Same result on each of the two different subnets.
I also tried setting the thing up on the 192.168.0.x subnet and looking for the web interface on https://192.168.0.1:4444, but that was just as fruitless.
So I'm completely stuck.
How do I get to the web interface?
It's probably something really stupid, but I've spent about five hours on this so far... (more fool me, for not asking you gys earlier!)
