TM5800 800Mhz CPU and ThinClient FSC Futro S200 with CompactFlash

I am looking for an energy saving Appliance which is able to use with the Ataro software. So I've found the Fujitsu-Siemens Thinclient Futro S200 with a Transmeta TM5800 CPU with 800Mhz.

I do not know yet how many RAM fits with this appliance, but I hope 512MB DDR SO-DIMM will work.

The HDD will be a 16GB or 32GB CompactFlash Drive with UDMA support.

Would the Astaro Home Licens for about 5users work fine with this 15watts appliance?

    Astaro needs a truly x686 (Pentium III or better) CPU... does this Transmeta qualify?
    Also, 800 MHz is on the low end; I'm running a 800MHz PIII at home, but I'm not using content filtering, antivirus, etc.

    Furthermore, Astaro does a LOT of logging; this could wear out the compact flash rather quickly.

    The Transmeta TM5800 is a "x68 compatible processor".

    So I have to find out how many RAM I can use with that little machine.

    Now I am using a 40GB IDE HDD, just 8GB more than a 32GB CF-Card. Is there a possibility in the ASG to clean the logs automatically after a specified time? Then it would be work fine?!...

    -> AMD Geode 1500NX (like Athlon XP with undervolting) with 1000Mhz
    -> 512MB DDR RAM 
    -> 16GB Transcend 300x Compactflash Card with UDMA5 (SLC) with 30years warranty
    -> average cosumption of electricity is about 18watts !! (a test will follow)

    I've ordered that ThinClient (EBAY:133,28&#8364[[[;)]]] and the CF-Card (EBAY:123,99&#8364[[[;)]]] (both: 257,27&#8364[[[;)]]] and will write my experiences to you.

    Yes, Astaro can purge logs automatically (the thresholds are adjustable).

    If the Geode NX really is an Athlon XP, it should be fully x686 compatible.

    I did a Memtest and the program shows that it ist an Athlon XP (130nm) ;-)

    The Futro S400 doesn't make any noises, that's fabulous.

    I do not get th CF-Card yet, maybe tomorrow. Hope I have a little bit time on weekend for testing the new little appliance.

    In these days i am using my ThinClient ASG for 4weeks and it works fine.

    What's the lifetime rating on the flash drive? Does it do it's own wear-leveling?

    I'll be interested in your power consumption results too.

    The CF Card has 30 years waranty and someone said, that I don't mind about the write cycles. The CF controller should manage the adresses well. I think you mean that by wear-leveling.

    I am looking for a kind of well working energy indicator for the moment...

    Yes... that's what I meant. Astaro does a lot of logging, which is why it's important.

    I am looking for a kind of well working energy indicator for the moment...


    I don't know how much it would cost you in shipping, but Amazon has the Kill-A-Watt for about $20... I don't know if they have a 220/240 volt model though.
    You can also use an multimeter if you have a special A/C plug or an "amp-clamp".
