How long migrating is ???? :-(

Hi all@forum,

I have just installed a 7.306 ASL, installed license, perform a first backup, imported a V6.303 Backup & then push the "Restore" Button : after more 30", nothing happened !!!

Do I need to perform first an installation with an older V7 one (ie 7.003), perform a restore from a V6, reinstall V 7.304 and THEN restore a V7.003 Backup ???

I'm very frustrated about this migration :-(

    Trouspinette, there's an additional tab for upgrading from V6.303 - 'V6 backup import'.

    Is that what you used?

    Yes, I dit it by this way.

    I think I'm gonna try to install a V7.0, import 6.303 backup, create a new V7.9 backup, install a 7.3x, and then import the V7.0 backup;

    But do you have an idea ???

    At least two people on the forums had problems with the ASL 7.302 ISO.  Their problems were solved by loading the 7.300 ISO and upgrading from there.  I don't know if the problem was fixed in the 7.304 ISO.

    I installed with V7.2 & also 7.304...

    the problem is that the restore from v. 6 to v.7 is possible only from 6.310 o next to v 7.

    Who told you that, Ivano80?  You may be correct that there's a bug, but this is the first I've heard of it.

    Automatic (in-place) upgrades of appliances are only available in v6.310 and up.  You should be able to import a 6.303 or above backup into a v7 system.

    Have you tried multiple v6 backups? I may be that the one you are using is corrupt.

    I think that this is a best practise, but I'm not a Astaro expert. Excuse me if this isn't correct and if I was imprecise.

    I would expect that the 'V6 backup import' in V7.3x would work better than the one in V7.000.  If you are having difficulties, then I would suspect that either the V7 ISO or the V6 backup you are using is corrupted.

    Please see Jack's comment below.  My following statement was incorrect: [SIZE="1"]In the above, Jack meant "6.301" not "6.310" backups and above can be imported into V7.[/SIZE]

    To clarify- for a hardware appliance to have the option to perform and in-place upgrade by clicking a button in WebAdmin, you must be at 6.310 or above to have that option.
    6.303 or above is all that is required for the backup import.

    Yes, thanks, Jack.  I had forgotten about that since the only current V6 site I help manage is on an HP PC, not an Astaro appliance, so there's no in-place upgrade available for it.
