I strongly urge your to update your systems to the latest versions of V6 (currently 6.314) before upgrading to Version 7.

I recommend updating your V6 install, creating a couple of backups, download the backups, then re-image the system with the latest ISO.  Once the system is up and running the current ISO, then import the V6 backup file and process the update/conversion, finally complete the configurations not converted with the backup/import.  This method produces the most consistently reliable results for most users.

Astaro appliances will only boot and install from an external CD-ROM drive.  You will need an external CD drive attached to the ASG, you will need to download the appropriate ISO image and burn it to CD, with the burned CD (not just the iso copied to the disk) in the drive the ASG should boot and install from it when powered on.

You can also purchase an ASI, Astaro Smart Installer.  ASI looks like a USB thumbdrive, but actually includes CD format emulation, and uses a different image for updates.  ASI sticks are available from resellers/partners.  A conventional USB thumbdrive will not work; they are treated as external hard drives, not CD drives.
