wizard not working

i am trying to make a decision to purchase astaro software and this is currently a problem for me.

Cylent, this is a user and support bulletin board, not a place frequented by Astaro sales people.  In any case, Astaro only sells through resellers (in the USA, I don't know about other countries).  Where are you located?

in any case i called support and they said they don't deal with technical issues.

i called the german office and no one spoke english
i called the U.K. office and i was told someone would return my call
I called the U.S. office and they said we cant deal with you cause you're not in the states. 

i honestly don't know how these guys sell anything.

during the 30days trial i should at least have some tech support.

currently astaro gets a 0/10 rating from me!

We're all in business to make money, so it's no surprise you can't get direct support from a foreign country.  Your best bet is to connect with a reseller in your home country where you will purchase Astaro.

Your present problem appears to be a failed install.  You should reinstall from scratch, possibly with a different ethernet adapter since it wasn't recognized the first time.  Check the Supported Hardware list on the Astaro website.

i am using two RTL8169 adapters.
during install only one gets seen (recognized) and sometimes it shows both. go figure

i would really like to keep one rtl8169 since its a gigabit adaptor.

i have another VIA VT6105 and a SMC EN5251BE .. they ... sometimes do get seen.

so that maybe the issue.

i feel as though astaro is doing their hardest to limit their software selection of Network cards so they can choke people into buying their appliance. way to go astaro!

We sell both the appliances and the software, depending on the needs of the client.  For the first few years, Astaro didn't even offer an appliance.

We normally install on HP hardware and have little difficulty.  I doubt that Astaro limits the selection of drivers, or that it's writing or modifying them for its Linux.  I could be wrong though.

It sounds like you have a motherboard or BIOS that's not compatible.  Either that, or a hardware malfunction.  You should check the V7 Hardware Compatibility list.

as i have stated my rtl8169 is IN THE HCL and IS compatible.

check the Network Cards section for yourself:

so thats that.

now... why it wont see both during install is beyond me

You've probably already tried reseating the boards, so I'd suggest you try a differnt computer.  We've never experienced Astaro Linux not seeing an Ethernet card unless it was dead.  The last dead card we saw was on a motherboard; unfortunately, it seemed to install, but then no traffic would flow in or out of it.  That was a frustrating problem; we kept playing with the configuration because we thought we had made a mistake.

ok here we go again. (with asg)
i took the server offline.
i made sure both cards are seated very nicely

i inserted the install CD. booted up and it saw BOTH RTL8169 cards.
It installed just fine.

Ran the wizard. 
same problem

Eth1 Unused
Eth0 Working as internal lan

Now if i goto Network -- Hardware  it does show both adapters.

why isnt the wizard working?
i dont get it.
