revving back to 7.202: log files?

Since we keep experiencing problems with FTP (see thread: https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/52/t/26653) I'm forced to revert back to 7.202, the latest version we weren't experiencing these problems.

Since there's no roll-back option within Astaro, I'm going to do a fresh install of 7.202 and put a backup back on the machine. I'm wondering though: can I copy the logfiles to a different machine and put them back on the reinstalled server?
We sometimes get questions about what websites what users are visiting, so I don't want to loose the logs... [:O]

  • Is it important to keep the logs on the device? Personally, I would just ssh into the device and backup all of the logs to an external location.
  • I'd just SCP (if you use a Windows management station, try googling for WinSCP) the logfiles off the box.  Putting them back on probably won't make them accessible via Webadmin, but you can open the files up on whatever server or workstation you copy them to.

  • Thanks for the input.
I was hoping I would be able to use the logs from WebAdmin, but I guess we'll have to go about it another way.
  • OK, I've WinSCP'd all of the log files and history onto my PC.

Before I spend time creating a new install, copying these files all back onto the new unit, then looking to see whether the history is visible from WebAdmin, can anyone tell me if they've confirmed that it won't work since the 7.300 upgrade?

    Thanks - Bob
