Upgrade hardware without losing email quarantine

Short of forcing delivery of all quarantined emails, is there a way to go through a hardware upgrade without losing these emails?

Are there any other gotchas I might not be considering in terms of lost data?

Has anyone made a checklist of the preparations necessary to make going through an upgrade easier?

Thanks - Bob

  • I don't think you can save that quarantine stuff..  You should also copy off the logs (if needed for compliance purposes, etc.).  The built-in reporting info would also be lost.  Other than that, I've never really had a problem upgrading customer hardware, so long as I had enough NICs in the destination machine.

  • Thanks, Bruce.  I agree, but...

In addition to posing a wide-open call for ideas, I was hoping someone knew a trick.  I know that V7.3 recognizes when it needs to rebuild its PostgreSQL database, so I hoped it was possible to fool V7.3 into accepting a "grafted" quarantine file.
