we are having troubles updateing from 7.202 or 7.300 i would like to setup a new box and just start fresh with the latest version then do a backup and restore from my 7.202, thanks
then it kept saying an update available for download but didn't get since error 500(servers busy) so i manually downloaded it(did a md5 check ), but when i went to upload through the webadmin it never finish, it only did about 100K if i look though putty..
actually you could upload it by ssh. put it in the right directory.. i think this should work.. [:)] I don't know maybe someone else with more experience can tell you. the command for the install is mentioned earlier here.

Barry, how much memory is in the box you're trying to manually upload the up2date to? If an up2date is over 100MB in size, and the device has 512MB of RAM or less, you may have problems doing a manual upload. If this is not the case, then it may be time to check the network connections or NICs, as it may be possible that the file is getting corrupted during the upload to the Astaro. I've setup a few "clean" 7.300 installs and they up2dated just fine.

server has 2 gig memory, so i tried a laptop plug in with a crossover cable and it worked perfectly, The admin nic is a gig, so i must have been something with that on the switch. Thanks for the tip to look at that.
Glad to help. I would try setting the speed and duplex settings manually on the Astaro and the Switch Port that it is connecting to ... you may have to experiment a bit to find the right combination. This is a problem I've run into with all sorts of equipment, not just an Astaro unit (so much for standards, ehh?). You can probably see when there's a problem with the port negotiation or settings by looking at the error stats for that switch port.
