ASG220 -> 425a Migration: Reassign NICs

Hi all,

I've got an ASG220 and I'm migrating to a 425a.

On the ASG220: eth4 through eth7 have been used (it's historical).

On the ASG425a, eth6 and eth7 are SFP (ie. fibre).

After importing the config from the ASG220 - is there a way I can remap eth6 and eth7 to eth0 and eth1 without having to completely pull apart the config?

In the old days you would mess with the aliases in modules.conf and reboot. Don't know how to do it now.

    I not be reading into your question deep enough, but here goes...

    Yes it is possible, providing your ETH0 and ETH1 aren't in use by something else within your current ASG220 config that you're going to import.  Otherwise you will have to juggle ports round-robin style to get the right arrangement of interfaces.

    Forgive me for asking, but what version are you running?  It sounds as though it might be something older than what's currently available...

    In version 6.x and 7.x and above you can simply go into Network > Interfaces and change the physical port to whatever ETH interface you want using a drop down menu (in this case 6 and 7 since they are fibre on the 425a).

    I have not done this type of migration where ports that were on an ETH interface are being migrated to a SFP interface.
    Worst case scenario is, the 2 interfaces don't migrate over, and you just re-create them once your ASG220 config is loaded into the 425a.
    If this is the case, you will need to adjust any PF, NAT, or routing rules that rely on these 2 interfaces.

    Ah yes ... I see what you are saying in Edit Interfaces. That looks straightforward.

    Also - what happens to all the X509 certs? IPSec, SSL VPN etc. - do I need to reissue all the certs?

    I've got the existing 220 integrated into AD. Do I need to re-join the ASG425 to the domain?

    Sorry for the questions - but I've not "upgraded" in this manner before.
