XP Box Intermittently Drops Connection

I set-up ASG 7 on custom built box and added it into my network about a week ago. The network connection on one of my workstations has been dropping  intermittently. The connection is down for a few seconds then it comes back. 

When my network was connected to simple NAT router I always had a stable connection with workstation in question. 

I had a second NIC is this workstation that was disabled so I switched out the cable and settings and disabled the original NIC. The problem continues to happen so I am ruling out that it is a workstation/NIC issue.

If it was an ASG problem wouldn't other workstations on my network be experiencing the same problem? At this point only my primary workstation has this behavior.

Does this sound like a hardware problem on my ASG box? Or a Firewall config issue?

Since I am new to ASG any help would be appreciated.

    What features are you using on the astaro?
    Have you checked any of the logs and is the CPU usage high when this happens?

    One of the most common issues is Intrusion Protection or IM/p2p blocking a workstation so I would check if you have that enabled and if anything is in the logs.

    thanks for all your replies. I have been really puzzled by this.

    dilandau: 
    - the CPU is not working that hard. like right now it is at 1%. I have been watching the packet filter log alot. it is blocking some ports that I am still trying to track down. But it doesn't seem related. the ISP drops are all external IPs. IM/P2P not really doing that much... probalby could disable it.

    - when the connection drops on my XP workstation it is as if my the Network Cable has been unplugged. The connection the workstion has to other resources on the network drop as well. Just happend while typing this... but it comes right back.

    - the LAN card setting in the BIOS? On my XP workstation? or the ASG box? Or both?

    UPDATE: It even happens while I am downloading a file (and download fails) or connected to another computer via VNC or RemoteDesktop (remote session closes).  So I am not sure but wouldn't that keep the NICs from sleeping or going into power save mode?

    Is the workstation connected directly to the astaro or to a switch?

    When the connection drops you are not able to connect to other devices on the local network that are also connected to the switch?

    That sounds like a problem with the nic on either the pc or the switch or the cable and not an astaro issue.
