Embedded NC105i PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapter

Unfortunately, if the hardware is not listed as compatible on the HCL http://www.astaro.com/lists/HCL-ASG-V7.txt , it is not guaranteed to work.  Support for new hardware is added with various firmware up2date packages... you may want to try the 7.300 beta to see if it supports this NIC / chipset http://up2date.astaro.com/2008/07/public_asg_v7300_beta_released.html#more ... or install a NIC in the box that is on the HCL... Intel NICs seem to be the best and most supported ones on any platform I've built.

So I updated-pciids and now lspci -v correctly displays my onboard NIC :
0e:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom corporation NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express

 I also have a PCIE dualport gbit nic that is correctly recognized and loads with the e1000 module. 

So, i want the onboard nic to be eth0 and the PCIE nic to be eth1 and eth2.

i made the following changes
modprobe.conf.local
install eth2 /bin/true

/etc/modules
tg3  # onboard NIC
e1000 # PCIE Dual port

/etc/modules.conf
alias eth0 tg3
alias eth1 e1000
alias eth2 e1000

I rebooted the system but it is still not recognized. I know ASG is not plug and play but then how do i replace in the ISO image the pciids file without failing checksums during installation?

it is just a matter of update-pciids for the system to be able to see it. However my issue is "activating" the card from command line.

Hi,yesterday we got a HP Proliant ML110 G5 with an Embedded NC105i PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapter.
the adapter is seen by lspci as an unknown Broadcom adapter.
I tried to modprobe tg3, which is the driver for such card and also created the aliases "alias eth0 tg3".
Then i rebooted. but the card was not recognized by the web interface.
ifconfig also does not report it and it continued to be seen by lspci as unknown broadcom
I will update-pciids and report back.
Any help is welcomed.

We're using ASG v7.0 fresh install.

Not sure if it applies to this card, but some Broadcom cards are using the bnx2 driver.

in the case of a Broadcom 5722, it uses tg3 module.

So, i am totally stuck.
The HP ML110 G5 server (supported) that has a onboard NIC Broadcom 5722 (supported) widely supported by the tg3 module (included and supported in ASG 7), is not being recognized by ASG 7.0.

update-pciids did some trick, but not all. So i obviously cannot reinstall from CD because the card will not be recognized.

Have I missed some steps in manually activating the card?
If someone has a step by step manually adding the card to the astaro, please drop me a link.

Oh, BTW if someone happens to get the ML110 G5 that comes in SATA configuration, change the CDROM sata connection from port 5 to port 2. Astaro does not like SATA above port 4 (i guess emulation of IDE not above 4 channels).

You may want to link this and post the output of lspci in the 7.300 beta forum; they may take a look at it for the beta release.
