New NIC Problem

We have a HP DL380 G3 server running ASGv7.201, all appears to be working fine.

I then tried to add two additional NICs, Intel Pro/1000 MT PCI-X cards, these are recognised by the server at startup in the BIOS.

But when I go into Network -> Interfaces -> Hardware, they are not listed, as a result I'm unable to use them in Network -> Interfaces.

I'm looking to use these additional cards to link two additional broadband lines, making 3 in total, then utilising the Network -> Interfaces -> Link Aggregation.

I have checked the Hardware Compatability List and it shows the Intel Pro/1000 MT Dual and Quad Cards, but not single cards.

Any ideas on how I can add these cards, one option left to me is a full re-install, but would my backup config move over ? As it does not contain the config for all the cards ?

The officially recommended procedure is:
save a backup
add NICs
re-install Astaro
up2date to at least the same version as before.
restore backup

As long as the NICs are supported, that normally works just fine.

There is a 'shortcut', but it could void your support. Search these forums for 'modules.conf' if you're determined.

Thanks Barry,

I have modified the modules.cnf file and added the lines

alias eth2 e1000
alias eth3 e1000

then restarted the server, now the new NICs are visable in the Astaro config.
