admin no loginbox "Please wait, connecting to backend"

I can t login as admin any longer
It seems as if the backend has a problem
the only message is
Please wait, connecting to backend

Any hints?

    Have you restarted the system?  The Web Admin process may have hung and you may be able to recover with a quick restart.

    If you have restarted, is there anything interesting in the httpd log? (/var/log/httpd.log)
