I recently tried to install Astaro on an old Dell Optiplex. I got it from my aunt when it crashed on her. It appears that a virus caused the problem because almost all of the data was gone (700MB left), but there was no damage to the disc or other system components. I ran some diagnostics on the system just to make sure everything was working well. It meets the minimum specs. Everything seemed fine so I went ahead with the installation. The first time, it stopped when it decompressed Linux. I tried it a few more times and it stopped at different points. It stopped at the beginning of the installation, when it starts installing the partitions, and when copying packages. I can't figure out why this is happening because it is so inconsistent. Any ideas?
Edit: I burned the disc twice, verified both times, and used 3 different drives that I know all work.
I just checked and reconnected all internal connections. It is still stopping, but I can't get it past the beginning when it is about to load. It says "Uncompressing Linux... OK, Booting The Kernel."
I just tried it with a different HDD, RAM and optical drive (I know these work), with the same results, so it sounds like a motherboard problem.
