CPU Usage

Pattern version:  7937

CPU HP Proliant DL140 G2
Xeon 3.4 Ghz
1 GB RAM

pfilter-reporte and mailsec-reporte Much of the day are consumed throughout the CPU, does any suggestions?

If it's causing problems, you have a couple of options:

1. tune your packetfilter rules so less is logged.
2. disable reporting.

However, are you sure your mail configuration is correct? How much mail are you passing?

You can turn off accounting at:
Network - Accounting
There's a disable/enable button there.

I'm not sure if the packetfilter reporting can be disabled or not.
Again, reducing the amount of logging by adjusting your PF rules would help.

Yeah, turning off logging and services is the typical response from Astaro but it doesn't fix anything, it just makes the lag on the machine less noticeable when it decides to freak out. I have very minimal logging enabled and turned off Network Accounting. Here is the screen shot I just took.

Machine is under no load at all. It was rebooted that morning at 6am as usual.
Maybe finally someone at astaro will frickin take me seriously.

How large are the files located in /var/log/reporting/adbs ?

I know the old problems with pfilter report etc were partly b/c those dbl files would become to large and cause high cpu. A quick temporary fix would be to delete the pfilter.dbl or mailsec.dbl and then restart the syslog service or restart the astaro, if I remember correctly.
