Backup conversion from 6.101 to 7.2

Hi

I am running an ASG220 with Astaro 6.101. We want to upgrade to 7.201.
What is the prefered way

1. Run every up2date till the box is at 6.310 then update to 7.0 than update to 7.2

or

2. Backup the config from version 6.101 than reinstall 7.201 from CDrom and apply stored config.

The second way seems faster but we are not sure if the backup files are the same between 6.101 and 6.310.

Thanks for your help

Cheers Ben

  • You have to update to 6.31x first... the 7.x release notes state that it will not convert V6 backup files from versions earlier than this.  I suggest you read http://up2date.astaro.com/ASGV7.2_ReleaseNotes.pdf  (start with page 6 for upgrade info).

  • Bruce, I recently upgraded and now next to all my routes / network definitions etc in the "Description" field it has appended "V6 Upgrade".  Is there any quick way of removing this entry?  Total between all firewalls adn entities I will have to remove this entry over 2000 times if there isn't an easy way (via command line / unix).  Thanks for any info.
  • No quick fix that I know of.  I just delete them as it becomes convenient... it doesn't affect functionality.
