Dual ethernet mini-ITX Atom boards

I was planning on buying one of those mini-ITX atom boards and and running Astaro on it, but I need more information regarding the ethernet support. 

As of today I've only been able to find one of these boards with dual ethernet devices, which will only be available by the end of the month (Jetway JNC91 - http://mini-itx.com/19499281). Has anyone heard of any other Atom dual LAN boards?  

I've read the thread  concerning the Jetway C7 motherboard and the lack of support of the gigabit ethernet devices due to a driver bug, and I suspect the same Realtek devices could be integrated in the JNC91. Does anyone has any information regarding the support of these devices in the near future?

    Since the boards are Intel CPU/Chipset, maybe the NICs will be Intel too. Maybe.

    Or maybe Astaro will actually do something about the Realtek GigE drivers. Maybe.

    I've got the Atom system in my signature running fine, but using a PCI dual port card. The on-board realtek chip is not recognised by Astaro and I have disabled it in the BIOS.

    Aside from that, speed is excellent and everything else works like a charm.

    Does anyone have any idea when these gigE Realteks will be better supported? It seems it's been a long time, as there have been VIA Jetway boards with the same problem since last year.
    (Discussed in other threads here.)

    I'd like to get one of these low-power systems, but I need at least 3 NICs and gigE.

    @barry,

    why not start with the 10m/100m and later change it to 1g when supported. i do the same and those jetway's 10m/100m are running fine for the moment.

    then you start saving energy and you can always sell that module on flybay...

    I suppose.

    I'll probably get a Jetway in a while; I do need to free up some space in the 2nd bedroom.

    I'm guessing I'd need to buy both the 10/100 NIC module, AND the gigE module, in case the gigE isn't available later.

    Again, I don't understand why Astaro is not responding to this Realtek issue.

    Maybe I should open a support case... we are thinking of getting a new FW for work too.
    Has anyone posted the output of lscpi lately?

    There's a new VIA CPU coming out though, so I might wait for that.

    The price on the Intel Atom board is _really_ tempting; I could get one of those, and maybe cram it into a tiny case if I could find a low profile gigE card.

    If I got a smart gigE switch with VLANs, the onbaord 10/100 and 1 gigE NIC would be enough. This might be much cheaper than a Jetway system, and I need to get a gigE switch anyways.
    Netgear has an 8-port VLAN gigE switch for $100.

    Anyone know if there's going to be a fanless Atom system?
    There's a Morex case (3310) which can run fanless with the fanless C7 boards.
    Unfortunately, that case doesn't have room for a PCI card, IIRC.

    i have a Jetway J7F5M and i used to have a gb intel pci card attached to it. that was not very stable (perhaps the nic was iffy) so i put in jetway 3x100, chucked the nic and now it all works fine. the mobo gb is attached to a gb switch, wan, and the two wlans are all on 100. this way gb in house is working full speed, wlans are slower anyway and at the mo my isp is only running at 10 mb so there is still some way to go. 

    it would be nice if realtek gb chipset was supported but as we have all noticed, astaro is choosing to keep shtum on that subject. next major release, i understand may address this.

    btw, my jetway mobo is happy running astaro but it was not very good at doing anything else. not my best buy i have to say.

    Odd; Intel NICs are usually great; I wonder if the motherboard is iffy.

    I'm pretty sure my Intel board would run fanless if I bought a better heatsink for the chipset...

    Looks like Intel is finally selling the Atom CPU with a low-power chipset...

    MSI is making the "MSI IM-945GSE-A", which is totally fanless, with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 single-core CPU, and 2 Intel 82574L gigE NICs.

    It's $184 on LogicSupply, with "limited quantity" available.

    Can anyone confirm if this NIC is well-supported in Astaro, with VLAN support?

    The forthcoming Astaro 7.402 has the new Intel e1000e driver module which _should_ support these NICs; I'm going to be a guinea pig and try it out; I just ordered the board. (Logic Supply was out of stock so I ordered from Mini-Box.)

    I also ordered a fanless Morex T3310 case from Logic Supply. Logic Supply doesn't seem to recommend that case for a 24x7 server, but Intel says that case is OK for the much higher-powered DualCore Atom d945gclf/d945gclf2 motherboards, so I'm going to try it.

    Hi, I am planning to build the same system. Are you happy with it? Any recommendations? Powerful enough for 100mbit throughput?
