7.20 Up2date issue.

Hi, finally got v7.20 up2date down.  Two issues.

1) Astaro tells you the up2date is available BEFORE it's finished downloading.  Can this please be changed to only display once the file is completely downloaded rather than as soon as it starts grabbing the update??

2) It fails to install.  Never had an issue with up2date installations not installing before now.

    did you install any preview RPM of the timezone package before starting the 7.200 Up2Date?

    Yes I believe I did as being in Western Australia we had some TZ issues.

    ok, that would explain #2 - workaround is valid.
    seems that this timezone package went out without internal note to take care when it is packaged in an official release.

    regarding #1, afaik it should already work like you'd like to have it - what happened after clicking install on first time?

    System appeared to start installing the update, but didn't.
    After that, the up2date file did not appear as available in Webadmin any longer.

    I received email from the system saying that the up2date was available for install *after* I'd already tried to install it.

    I did have emails from the system to support this, however they are in the place bits n bytes go when they die.

    Maybe it was related to #2 ?

    There are two different cases possible, it either reads "Up2Dates available for download" or "Up2Dates available for installation". In the former case, it has not yet been downloaded, you also get this when you disable automatic downloads. In the latter case, the up2date package has been downloaded, verified and you should also be able to see it's "contents" on the Up2Date page.

    We had exactly the same problems! 

    If you run the ASG on a VMWare host, check the VMware Tools!! If they're out of date, you'll receive this error!!

    I cannot agree with the statement above Andreas.

    In my ASG it says that the 7.200 update is available for installation; there is also the "Update to latest version" button and I am able to view the information about the update by clicking the blue information icon, alas, when I click on either the Install or Update to latest version buttons and then the Watch Up2Date Progress in new window button what I get is an update that says it applies successfully in about three seconds.

    The logs say something different however:

    I have rebooted the system and tried reapplying the update but that has not worked either.

    I received an email saying that the email was available, the ASG says the update is available for installation but that does not apear to be the case.

    There are three problems here, as I see it:
    1. The ASG says the update has been downloaded and that appears to be incorrect (as raised by Simon)
    2. The "Watch Up2Date Progress in new window" screen showed that the update was successful when it was not.
    3. If I use the link in the ASG to manually download the Up2Date I am not able to download the file; it times out.

    I am currently downloading the Up2Date from another server. we will see how a manual install goes.

    Downloading the 7.200 Up2Date package from download.astaro.de and loading it into the ASG manually has allowed me to apply the update.  [:)]

    I would still like an explanation as to why I needed to do this. Normally the Up2Date process is very stable (in my experience).
    In this instance however, what the ASG stated did not appear to be correct. As Simon has already stated, it would appear that the ASG is reporting a successful download of the Up2date package when it is not actually there.
    Well, that's how it seems to me.

    It might be because of a "new" 7.200 up2date... Your ASL may have downloaded the "old" one (from 05.26.2008) and was ready to install... Then Astaro uploaded a "new" 7.200 (from 06.02.2008) witch caused your ASL to restarted the download because of the different md5 Hash.

    So the Status of "Up2Dates available for installation" might be confused by a silent Update from Astaro...
