Installation Failed press enter to restart

I get the above message when attempting a v7 install on an AthlonXP-class PC which is already running V6 without problems.  The error message doesn't give me a lot to go on.  

It appears after the screen where you confirm for the last time that you want to format the disk, before it actually performs the operation.

checked again and the error message is something like "Please remove CD-ROM and restart the system"

    Because the drive already had Astaro 6 on it, the install process wouldn't mount the CDRom (in my case) /dev/hdc as /install automatically.  We did this manually, prior to pushing F8 to begin the install, and it ran successfully.

    My friend had the exact same issue upgrading his v6 box as well.

    Hi,
    The ASG install process doesn't care what is on the disk already. You don't start the process from within the ASG. You start the install be restarting the ASG with the install disk in the CD drive assuming you have the CD drive as the first access in the boot list.

    Hey guys,

    I installed asg-7.2 and it went well.
    Now problem is from client machine ( 192.168.2.101 )  I can ping ASG m/c -192.168.2.100 but from browser http://192.168.2.100:4444 page is not coming.

    I am getting blank white page. 

    What is the prob? where I need to look into ASG m/c.

    pls help.

    Are you typing http or https in your browser?

    it should be https://192.168.2.100:4444

    I just recently got asg to test out. Downloaded 7.2 installed in on a new pc 

    ( Motherboard -pcchips p29g -1 GB Ram 20GB IDE western digital. Cdrom. Celeron d Proccesor 3.3 ghz. I go through everything looks ok and then in the process of validating checksums it tells me to reboot and installation failed. 

    THings I have tried. 
    Mounted the cdrom to the /mnt/cdrom
    chmod on the msd5um to 777
    I did this because when it starts using alt f3 i can moniter what is screwing up anything realated to the user/bin/msd5um gets a failed open or read. there are a few other errors most releated to that. overall it cannot read 20 out of 354 or something like that.

    I tried different memory. I checked the fstab and thats doesn't do a whole lot of good. Didn't find any editor. 

    well any ideas i am open to 

    I did reburn the iso 

    iso name is acutal_asg.iso

    Try a different CDROM drive; that kind of error is almost always a poor drive or a poor burn.
    Also, did you try burning at 1x speed.

    I did try two different cdroms. I believe one was a liteon and the other was a generic I could try somthing nicer ANY SUGGESTIONS? Another question lets say it is my drive could I install it from a removable media? I did also try two different cd burns and two different makes for the cd. I used Power Iso to burn the iso and used a speed of 4x.

    I took you advice Barry and reburned a new iso with a dvd this Time, and Stuck a new dvd drive in. I was able to install without any Problem. Thanks [:)]

    Just a reminder for those of you using ESX, that there are ASG pre-made VMs ready to go. You do NOT have to use an ISO. Deploying a pre-made is far better when using ESX in my opinion. 

    Go to your virtual infrastructure console and DEPLOY a new ASG box. (assuming you have downloaded the pre-made). 

    Deploying beats the hell out of building a new image off an ISO.
