    Hi,
    how often does this happen?

    If once or twice occasionally, it would indicate you link is down at the up2date time. Have a look in the PPPoE or PPPoA log and see if the times in there match your failures.

    It happened a bunch right after I got everything running.  It seems less frequent now.  I did get the 7.104 firmware update.

    I am not sure how the pattern updates really work.  I check everything more frequently because I just got everything up and working.

    I have 7660 and I noticed 7661 was available.  Now 7662 in available.

    How often does it install updates to the patterns?

    Hi,
    on average there are about 9 pattern updates a day. The up2date process runs a lot more often than that, as you will see if you have a look at the log file.
    The up2date software runs regardless of your network status, so you might have a short break in your internet link at the time it ran, or your ISP could having problems.

    I would only worry if you are getting the error message every time up2date runs, which from what you have said isn't happening.
    Your scanning patterns are being updated.
