VMware Server install on astaro

Hello,

is it possible to install VMware Server on Astaro?
I have downloaded the VMware-server-1.0.5-80187.i386.rpm and installed this.

When i configure the vmware server with the config script " /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl" it come this:

The correct version of one or more libraries needed to run VMware Server may be
missing.  This is the output of ldd /usr/bin/vmware:
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x40022000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40047000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x4004b000)
        libX11.so.6 => not found
        libXtst.so.6 => not found
        libXext.so.6 => not found
        libXt.so.6 => not found
        libICE.so.6 => not found
        libSM.so.6 => not found
        libXrender.so.1 => not found
        libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x40060000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40073000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)

This program cannot tell for sure, but you may need to upgrade libc5 to glibc
before you can run VMware Server.

I ignored the message and go next. Anytime comes a message "make" not found.

Witch rpms i can use? I have read some Suse rpms going.

Sry for my bad english.
I hope you can help me [:)]

I have found the packets for make, but i cant find a compatiple packet for gcc with the version 4.1.2.

Your kernel was built with "gcc" version "4.1.2", while you are trying to use
"/usr/bin/gcc" version "3.2". This configuration is not supported and VMware
Server cannot work in such configuration. Please either recompile your kernel
with "/usr/bin/gcc" version "3.2", or restart /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl with CC
environment variable pointing to the "gcc" version "4.1.2".

  • You can't really add packages to Astaro very easily... however, if your goal is to run Astaro on top of VMWare... that is easy.  You don't need to install (nor can you) the VMWare tools on the Astaro instance.  Instead of trying to install, use the preconfigured (with VMWare tools and all) Astaro VMWare Image found here: http://download.astaro.com/Astaro_Virtual_Appliance/v7.0/

    Simply follow the directions in the readme file.
