ASG220 Users seek V7 answers...

Hey Everyone,

We're currently running an ASG 220 v. 6.312. (we could not upgrade to 3.313 because the Up2Date detected an error one of the definition files).

We currently have email, content, spam, etc... filtering and Platinum Support.
We spoke to our subscription reseller who advised us that our "subscriptions" will not work with V.6xx ?? Right now, everything seems to be working on the device.

Here's a question: Should we go ahead and use the Up2Date "Upgrade to V7" option and proceed with upgrading the ASG 220 hardware appliance to v7?

How's v7 operating so far on users' systems? stability? problems? known issues?

We also understand that certain settings and rules will not transfer over, but we don't think that's a major issue.

Our network architecture: DSL -> Astaro -> HP Switch -> End Users, File Servers, Print Servers, etc.

    Hi,

    I can't say I have any experience of version 6 to compare it to, but we have 3x 220s with relatively small numbers of users for web access (standard proxy) and all of them frequently have high CPU and memory utilisation...

    I should have added... one of the things I like about the Astaro product is that even with the high CPU and memory use, the user requests appear to get serviced pretty quickly.  It's the webmin that is painful to use under these circumstances.
