Recomended ADSL PCI card

Hello all.

Can anyone recomend a pci adsl modem card that works well with my astaro box.

I want to avoid an external modem if possible.

I cant find any pci modems listed on the HCL.

Hi,
you will need an external adsl modem. ASG does not support internal modems.

Yep, you will need an external DSL Modem (make sure it's in "bridged mode").

Traverse Technologies has a PCI ADSL modem which uses a Realtek ethernet chipset for the PCI interface. This makes it look like an external modem, plugged into a Realtek 8139 NIC.

why we have to install in "bridge mode "what is advantage /dis-advantages of using is bridge mode ,if my isp doesn't provide me static ip in this case how do i configure modem in bridge mode

How to install usb modem (while astaro installtion or later)

The USB ports on Astaro appliances work only to load the system from a CDROM or to load a backup from a USB stick. No modems, no Ethernet.

If you can put a Public IP on the external interface of your Astaro, then your ADSL modem is already in bridge mode. Every one is different, so without a specific model number that someone might already know, it's the ISP that's most likely to have documentation about bridging the devices they supply. Either that or read the manual for the device.

I don't think there's a a good KnoledgeBase article on the disadvantages of using Astaro in bridge mode, so I'm going to start one.
