Cannot connect

I've downloaded the ISO file, burnt it and run the install. I accepted the default IP address for the webadmin 192.168.2.100. After removing the CD and rebooting I can't connect to webadmin on that IP address and port 4444 no matter which of the 3 network cards I connect to.

My computer is connected to the ASG box with a crossover cable and I can see that the connection is live.

I can't ping 192.168.2.100 no matter which interface I connect the crossover cable to.

The crossover cable is good, I can connect to other computers.

When the box boots I see output to the screen for a short time then it is just black. Keyboard and mouse inputs do not have any effect.

I cannot connect with ssh to any of the 3 interfaces.

The same box with the same interfaces when Smoothwall, MONOWall or PSFence installed works perfectly.

Seems to me that Astaro is not loading correctly, any ideas.

Have tried earlier versions of Astaro on the same machine, same result.

Machine is a brand new HP Proliant ML110, only cost £100.

    Okay after searching the forums for anything at all that might be relevant I found in one thread a reference to the boot option "nolapic noapic apci=off", which it seems is not saved during the initial installation if the option "Classic" is selected.

    I did use the "Classic" set up option as the default failed.

    Anyway I used a live CD, mounted the drive and edited and then saved menu.lst in /boot/grub I think it was and added "nolapic noapic apci=off" at the end of the first boot option. I also removed the command that turned off the splash screen so that I could see what was happening at boot.

    What do you know, it works! Now I'm not at all familiar with Linux so there's a good chance that others in the same position that I was in may be able to repeat my steps.

    The question now is why isn't the option saved when installing in Classic mode?

    Which ISO did you use? 7.100?

    I have the 7.4 and the same blank screen, after an installation with "classic" option.
