I am switiching from a product called WinProxy to Astaro.  I have been having difficulty with the install and I believe it is a DNS issue as the log says that the DNS can't be resolved.  

I am not finding much documentation about installation and am seeking help.  

From what I have read here, I need the Astaro box to be a member of the AD.  However, I am not sure how to do this.  Also, am I correct in assuming that Astaro needs to point to the AD DNS and then I forward from the AD DNS to my DNS outside?  From reading posts, that seems like what I have to do.  If this is correct, then should I enter the name of the AD DNS box in the forwarder box in Astaro?

    To be a member of the AD you have to do following steps:

    1) DNS Forwarders: Server.domain.com (should be a DC with the DNS role installed)
        Assign the checkbox "Use forwarders assigned by ISP"

    2) Users » Authentication
        Assign "Create users automatically"

    3) Active Directory (at the same point) 
        Active Directory authentication - Enable
        Server: Server.domain.com (any DC)
        (Maybe unassign "Use SSL"
        Bind User DN: CN=administrator,CN=Users,DC=domain,DC=com
        After applying, you can join the domain.
        Domain: domain.com

        You have to fill in the credentials for your domain. 

    4) Applying SSO:
        Creating a backend membership group in the ASG (Users - Groups) according to an AD    
        Security Group an AD member of this group are now allowed to identificate by the End 
        User Portal. At the first Identification, the user will be created in the ASG (Users - User) 
        automatically.

    Following these steps and with little patience, the AD-users will have the abilitiy to connect to the End User Portal.

    Good morning! 

    What a coincidence! I am also evaluating software to migrate from Winproxy. I am having the same problem as the original poster; however, ours is a small peer to peer network and we do not use AD (yet).

    I am able to connect to the ASG machine; however, I am not able to connect to the internet due to DNS problems. I've followed the configuration guide and read the manual but I am getting nowhere.
