That's a limitation of most motherboards... the last 1GB is used for PCI address space (for DMA), etc.
The only possible exception (in 32-bit mode) is if the motherboard supports PAE (Physical Address Extensions), but I don't know if the ASL Kernel is compiled with that anyways.
