Jetway J7F5 fast enough?

I am thinking of building a system with J7F5M1G2E and a PCI gigabit NIC (with the possibility of adding the 3xGb jetway module later on, once the drivers have been updated). this setup would be purely for home use and initially would only have one lan, until the drivers are ready. internally i run everything on Gb lan.

Will this mobo be fast enough to process data from my 50Mb ISP link if i have "everything" turned on? if i get 100Mb connection, would it still work? i would only have three clients max accessing wan. i guess a 100Mb wan nic would be fine anyway but i already have a spare Gb one...

i was looking at J7F5 as i would like a very low power, near slient system but i am not sure if 1.2GHz CPU is fast enough for 50/100Mb wan.

    I highly doubt it will be fast enough if you are doing virus/content scanning on the content at those speeds.

    For a connection that fast and to be able to virus/content scan content at line speeds between 50-100Mbps you will likely need the fastest hardware you can buy. The fastest dual or quad CPU system you can buy might be able to saturate the line. Don't forget to load it up with 2+GB of RAM.

    Now, if you aren't doing active scanning of the content you are pushing through the line, yes, the system will be fast enough.

    i am currently on 4Mb and using an old P3 500MHz with a gig of ram and it is working just fine. my isp is upgrading all 4Mbs to 10Mbs and have just announced a 50Mb service i am having my eye on. (Virgin Media)

    i am sure that my current box won't probably work all that well with 10Mb and i would like to get ready for 50Mb.

    i guess there is no chance of running astaro at 50Mb at low power and low noise...

    Packet Filtering should be fine... it's just that IPS and other features would probably slow things down, IF you need those features.

    i got a J7F5 1.2GHz Eden (J7F5M1G2E-VHE) and Noah Mini-ITX case (which comes with a PSU) only to find out that the Noah PSU is not compatible with J7F5!?! Jetway is sending me a "fixed" mobo but watch out if you are looking at using this motherboard/case combo.

    this obviously begs a question: how can a "standard" PSU not be compatible with a "standard" mobo requiring a "Standard 24 -Pin ATX Power supply"? most bizarre.

    Will there be room for a PCI NIC with that setup?
    Nevermind... I see the case comes with a PCI riser card.

    yup. you can just about put in a 2.5" hd and a pci nic. hopefully it will all work. if not, i'll just make it into a toaster and run it as a mail server or something like that.
