Webadmin pword not valid after 7.101 update

The WebAdmin replies invalid pword after updating to latest version.  I have tried resetting to factory default, entering new password, and then restoring a backup.  If I logout and try to get back in, it gives me invalid password.  Any ideas?
thanks.

  • When you restore a backup file in 7.x, the Webadmin password is restored with it... Your backup may be corrupt.  There is a way to reset the password from the console / shell... do a quick search of the board, I think someone posted how to do just that already (I can't remember off the top of my head).

  • I have tried several different backups. Same result.
I am working on console, but having trouble connecting.
    thanks.
  • What kind of trouble are you having?

  • Not connecting properly to console.  using hyperterm, 38400,8,n,1.  tried hardware, xon/off.  Not connecting.  When I restart I had rec'd, some of the startup  and then some ascii characters and nothing more.  Other times, just nothing.  Do I need to connect differently, do I have to restart each time I connect via console?
Thanks for help, hows the weather in SCar.?   33F here in IN.
  • We had something similar on a customer fw recently.  Went to login to the webadmin and it indicated it was caching objects.  Then it returned to the login prompt and nothing we tried would let us in.  I'm sure we were using the correct password.  Anyway, we followed the instructions in this thread...

And it worked like a charm.  Saved us from reloading the box, which support recommended BTW.

  • Nice solution except for those of us who have an ASG applicance. Booting from a CD is not an options. Any other suggestions?
  • Sure you can... you can use a USB CDROM Drive... USB Keyboard, and a video dongle.  Contact Support for permission to crack the case to plug up the video dongle, as it may void your warranty otherwise.

  • Good tip. I didn't realize the ASG220 would boot from a USB CD by default. I had never heard of a video dongle, great idea. My ASG120 has a monitor connector and a PS2 keyboard connector but the ASG220 only has 2 USB ports and 2 serial ports.

Solved my problem yesterday by doing a factory reset and reloading the backup from a couple of days ago. Performance was so bad that no one was getting anything done anyway. It's working much better after the reload.

I will definitely keep this procedure for future reference.
