Update from 7.011 to 7.1 - NIC initialization failed

Good morning everybody,

i tried to update my astaro, running on a HP Proliant ML310, from v7.011 to 7.1. The update process seemed to run well, no errors occured.

When the system reboots, i get the boot status message "NIC initialization - failed". And without any NIC the astaro isn´t very usefull, i think :-).

Is this a known problem, does anybody have the same problem? I am not very motivated to reinstall astaro in v7.1 and configure the hole system again.

    Try changing to a crossover cable or vice-versa.

    What NIC does it have?

    Depends the initialization of the nic´s on the cable type? The linux system should initialize the nic´s without any connected cable, i think. Or am i totaly wrong?

    NIC 1 is the onboard hp card of the ml310 system and the other is a 3com nic.

    There was an issue introduced in 7.1 that caused many gigE NICs to no longer autonegotiate, which is why I recommended trying a different cable.
    I'm not sure if that's the problem or not, but it's worth a try.
    If that doesn't help, you might want to contact support.

    Do you know which driver the onboard NIC is using?
    (look at /etc/modules or just run lsmod)

    Last weekend we tried the update again with disableing the auto-negotiation before the update. We updatet directly to newest version 7.101 and it worked very finde and without problems.
